For the November 5th ship date. Playing with the bator this week lol

Haven’t set them yet cause they don’t get here till next week.

Did order a new thermometer and battery though cause my probe thermometer apparently got left turned on and died

If I remember from last time I played with it when I first got it, I think it runs a little hot so have to set a couple degrees cooler than recommended but that’s why I wanna get the other thermometer and test it.

Where in the world are you going to put 12 chickens?

I figure I’ll either sell them as chicks or sexed birds or I’ll build a separate pen and keep the cool breeds haha

I figure they won’t all hatch and there’ll probably be a lot of boys.

I actually have kind of already been toying with the idea of building a separate pen/coop anyway cause I want to get a layer flock and possibly sell eggs but I haven’t decided for sure yet but this will be a good excuse to do that.

That or build the aviary I wanna build on the side of the garage and use it as a grow out temporarily haha

Although that’s pretty close to the neighbors so maybe not a great idea

But either way, I’m probably gonna rent a trailer this weekend and go buy some materials and get building. I wanna be prepared this time.

They likely can’t go with my current flock since they’re vaccinated?? Or is it different with hatchery eggs??

I know it’s a horrible idea.

Honestly I thought of it myself but I already cancelled a chick order a few years ago apparently (which I forgot about until I found some old post ) so I don’t want to get on some black list or something and not be able to order from them again LOL

Plus it’s probably a little too soon to cancel. Idk.

I also really really want to hatch. I never have

And I gotta test the incubator at some point.

But tbh I definitely was not thinking when I placed the order.

But I want to get more chickens anyway so idk. I wanted to order chicks cause they’ve had a lot of free shipping deals lately but I decided I’d rather hatch something. More fun and I have the bug lol

Probably should have waited till spring but I think it will work out fine.

Plan is get these eggs, hatch them, get practice hatching, then order some more immediately after these hatch and/or order some sex link chicken eggs when available (already looked up and found a place that sells them, probably won’t be available till spring though) and keep hatching all winter/hatch after hatch and grow out chicks to sell POL pullets in spring.

Probably won’t actually do that though but it’s an idea at least ha
