Halloween/Thanksgiving Hatch-a-Long 2019

I'm having meat ducks I don't even eat meat, but I want to provide meat for the family. My dogs LOVE duck. I swear when they see my ducks outside they're imagining how tasty they'll be but my ducks are not for eating. Their offspring will be.

Oh I know you're kidding! I just love my family/dogs a lot and would do a lot for them. That includes processing birds for them. I can't believe I'm even doing it...

When I first met my husband I told him I would never go hunting and I would never raise chickens for meat. Somehow his logic went into my head and my logic went into his head because he is now the one that is unsure about doing it... And I'm so sure about doing it Funny how things change in 5 years.

I think what made me want to do it is that my oldest told me that he wanted me to grow him a chicken so that he could eat it... Then it sparked something in me. Then I thought I was a Savage because I don't eat meat or any animal products, but I'm going to process animals. Then I stopped worrying about what others thought because you wouldn't believe how many people have been questioning me on what I'm doing. Some people think it's completely cruel, but they're buying meat at the grocery store. I'm not sure how me processing chickens humanely is worse than grocery store meat.

City raised, I was even against hunting. Of course, people waste the animal, but I’ve separated that now. I got chickens knowing I’d have to process eventually. It took a while, but now I’m all for eating whatever. Even goat if you’re into that.

I think it’s important for kids (and anybody) to know where their food comes from.

And my parents are weird about that too, grossed out by it or think it’s cruel or “how could you kill something you’ve raised!?” And don’t think I could handle it or just don’t want to but yet... we eat plenty of meat from the store.

I personally think I could do it but idk. Maybe not. I cry when they get taken by predators.
