Halloween

Well this year might be a little different for us. This will be the first year that we will be out in the country and not in the city limits. Years past we would just take the kids trick or treating but last year we handed out candy. Our kids are too old to go door to door so I don't know if we should just have a big party out here for them and adults or what. Will be interesting because although I didn't grow pumpkins in the garden, I did grow corn not to mention the fact that we are surrounded by corn fields on two sides of the property. My question is....if we decorate, who will see it? As far as decorating for Christmas with lights....same question, who will see it besides us?

I'm in the country and my house is in the middle of woods. Neighbors can't see my house and you can't see it from the road. I still decorate. I don't decorate for others to see it, I decorate so I can see it.

I don't care if anyone sees our decorations either

As long as we get to see it! I always do the corn stalks (cornfields next door) and decorate inside like crazy. My 9 year old son appreciates that I love holidays. Halloween is one of my favorite times of year. It's not snowing yet and its cool and crisp. Since we live in the country, we venture to my sisters who lives in a little development so the kids can trick or treat. I always make some creepy dinner, like fingers (chicken) dipped in blood (ranch with red food coloring)

and cupcakes with spider on them

There are no other children around where we live, so I am our grand daughters amusement. Down in town they have what they call trunk or treat. At the park they have cars in the parking lot and they costumed kids go from car to car. Our palces up here ar too far apart and there are no street lights (YEA!!!), and some of the streets in town are terribly rutted. We didn't go last year as I had a broken leg. We may go this year though. I always make a special spooky dinner. Last year it was Jack-o-Lantern burgers, troll boogers(broccoli with cheese sauce) ,and Pumpkin puke(mahsed potatoes with mushroom gravy) Our grand daughter who will be 9 Oct. 4 loved it! We always watch spooky movies also. My humbug husband doesn't want me to decorate since there are no trick or treaters. Maybe I can talk him into it though.

I love decorating, even if no one sees but me. Gives me a little lift. But people do visit, and I think they enjoy it, too. We decorated even when I lived in the boonies.
Now we live in town with lots of new kids who moved to the area. So that makes decorating even more fun!

Can't decorate for Christmas until I get past Halloween and Thanksgiving, though!

But I do want to decorate the chicken tractor... I just wonder if the lights would bother them/ mess up their sleep cycle.
