I raise Silver Spangled Hamburgs LF and am looking to get the other silver and golden colors and work on the bantams. Anyone ever crossed the silvers with goldens to increase size?

Love the pics - I ordered some SSH from McMurray when I placed my order for fryers to be delivered later in February...just for fun, because I love their polka-dotted look. They will be a nice addition to my already eclectic flock of chickens.

Of course you can show your hamburg hen ! Why not ? What kind of show do you have in mind. It does not matter. I am just curious.

If you enter your bird you will learn from the comments that the judges give to you. I have not attended many show but not many Hamburgs have been in the show that I have seen. How old is your hen ?

Does any one on here breed SQ hamburgs?

I raise show quality LF silver spangled hamburgs. I sell chicks, eggs, and adults in the fall if I have any to spare. Your hen has pretty good spangling, however I would like to see her deeper bodied, and her comb seems pretty good also. Her biggest fault is not having the correct conformation for a hamburg, but if she is young that can change some of mine look rangy when they are young. Combs are big points on hamburgs, it is hard to keep that spike at the correct angle, avoid inverted spikes, hollow combs.
