Hand Quilting Time

Now I am jealous of that for sure!!!!

I will go ahead and try it on a smaller quilt on my machine... I am just scared to screw this one up as its so important, and on a time line. Due date is approaching fast.

I am planning on a Christmas table runner for me I can try it with, or a wall hanging a friend of mine show'd me she liked I'm thinking of trying a go at! I feel better trying it on something smaller until I get the hang of it. I do have a crib size quilt I am thinking of starting for some friends we have expecting. Its just chancy the baby will make it and I am going to wait until the give us some positive news before I start it.

Clean and oil your machine and use a brand new sharp needle. Don't use a general purpose needle. Use a sharp. Getting all of the lint out of the machine and oiling it makes a huge difference.

Ok, WILL DO!

Should I go purchase the walking foot then?!

If you are doing straight lines, yes. They are helpful. If you aren't used to machine quilting, practice on something smaller and less precious first. Bicycle clips are also very helpful to keep the quilt rolled up too. You may also want to consider doing both machine and hand quilting on it.
