Hand Turning

with quail eggs I just roll em around with my palm like mixing a deck of cards on the table as a kid. or spreading marbles around.
I've also done the egg carton tilt on a dowel under the middle of the carton and I'd suggest making or buying a turner since it really dose make it easier (for me anyhow) to "forget" the bator and not wait every second for something to happen

For What Its Worth... The More You Open The Bator The More You Screw With The Internal Environment Which Is What Is Necessary For Embryo Development. Turners Allow You To Set It And Forget With The Exception Of Adding Water As Necessary. As You Seem To Be Getting More "into" Hatching A Second Turner For Your Second Bator Would Be A Nice X-mas Gift...

This what I have been doing with the homemade bator. Bator is not big enough for a store bought egg turner. It is my first time hatching anything so who knows if I'll get any to hatch. I lock them down friday at noon. Hoping for the best!! Bill

I had my mind made up to order the Brinsea eco20, but it seems there out of stock for the time being. But I would surly still want the turner... Iv read that temp and humidity is harder to keep right as the homemade bators get bigger, what's your opinion about that? But ur right, a rebuild of the bator on a larger scale has been running around my brain.... Then a egg turner to go in it... Bill

I turned 45 Button eggs back in September.
I just put them on their side and turned them over on the other side.
If you're hand turning Button Quail eggs I suggest turning them every 18-30 minutes.
Trust me, I did a little 'exp and I turned 6 Button eggs 3 times a day and 3 hatched.
Then I incubated 6 more, but this time turning them every 18-30 Minutes and 5 hatched..all of them would have but the 6th one zipped and then died!

I WAS JUST SEEING BRINSEA'S NOTICE ON MY FACEBOOK PAGE... SAYS LATE JAN. BUMMER, THEY ARE SERIOUSLY SWEET! THE OCT 40'S ARE AS WELL BUT WAY MORE $$

BILL IF YOUR CRAFTY ENOUGH TO BUILD YOUR OWN BATOR THERE'S A STRING AROUND HERE SOMEWHERE THAT THE OP BUILT A TURN TABLE FOR THEIR COOLERBATOR.... IT WAS A PRETTY COOL DESIGN AS I RECALL. SHOULDNT BE THAT HARD... SOME LUMBER A PIECE OF ALL THREAD ROD... THE WHOLE TABLE TOP JUST TURNED FROM SIDE TO SIDE ABOUT 30 DEGREES..

AS FAR AS BUILDING YOUR OWN AND ITS OVERALL FUNCTION I SUPPOSE THAT DEPENDS GREATLY ON DESIGN AS WELL AS COMPONENTS. ALOT OF VARIABLES THERE TO FOOL WITH
