Handling Ducklings around their momma

I'm working on creating a sustainable living situation here, so I'm trying to create a flock that will do all the work for me. I choose pekin and Welsh Harlequins for the combination of meat, egg production, and broodiness. (Of course I have since learned that I would only be able to butcher a duck if my life depends on it. )

And even then i doubt i could butcher one of my duckies! I eat store bought poultry, however.

I feel increasingly guilty eating store bought meat. Not that I think anyone else should feel guilty, it's a personal thing. I thought the solution to that was to raise my own. Maybe I will toughen to it someday. So far I have only butchered one guinea fowl. I didn't even like the bird. It was very annoying, but I still struggled with it.
