at what age can i start handling pigeon babys to get them to know me and not be scared

As soon as possible, actually. Once they get out of the nest then you can really handle them a bunch and start training.

I start handling my squabs as soon as they are hatched however fowlsessed gave you good advise because they are extremely delicate when they first hatch.

Even handling them every day the squabs will still be aloof when you enter your loft.

The secret is hand feeding them treats such as unsalted shelled peanuts or sunflower hearts.

After they taste these delicious morsels they will come when called. (Only feed as treats and only from your hand.)

Soon even your most timid birds will come when called is my experience.
