The ones with yellow splotches are internally pipped, correct? The yellow is either a blood speck from internal pipping or goo that struck the shell when it internal pipped, no worries...
The one that is drawn down a lot, watch for malpo/wrong end pipping... or a circular/oval bruise spot anywhere on the small end... bruise spot indicates attempt to pip wrong end and not breaking through all the way...
Those are good candling pics!
Yes, all of the ones with yellow splotches are internally pipped. You can't see the internal pip in the last pic, but it has internally pipped. I'll watch the egg that has drawn down a lot carefully. I think it's awesome that duck eggs can get bruise spots. I had a malpositioned duckling that tried to pip the pointy end of the egg when I did my first incubator hatch a little over a month ago. By the time I noticed it had a bruise spot and opened it up, the duckling was already gone.
Thanks!
Sorry for that, unfortunately it happens... but at least now you know what to look for! You're doing great, just give them their time... and if you have issues, check out the new Assisted Hatching Guide by Pyxis...

Thank you for all your help! It is very much appreciated. I read the assisted hatching guide. It's great! I will definitely look back at it for help if I need to. I remember Pyxis answering several of my questions during that first incubator hatch on another thread. I was a total mess during that hatch and she helped keep me a lot calmer. I think I'll stick with broodies until I can get a better incubator.
New Chicks on the Block!Day 20 here once again. I hear pecking a day early. getting my brooder prepped.![]()
...they will be mighty fine Soccer Players one day judging by their sudden interests in the sport.
I had to reposition the balance of the peepers when they rolled every last one to the left side. Why not the right side?...View attachment 1078353...View attachment 1078355...View attachment 1078356
