Hands on hatching and help

BYC, go drunk, you're home...

I just think you have multiple personalities. So does it only do that when I quote or do you get notifications from others too?? lol

thank you Amy that helps a lot and explains some things that happened as to why some had too much moisture and why the others dried out. We candled a few times just to see if there was movement. Wasn't aware of the air sack stuff. The two that lost too much were the ones we ordered. Out of 6 of those that made it to lock down 4 hatched out. The other ones were our barnyard mix and were bigger. Only 2 of those hatched out of 6 that went to lock down. After reading your reply the humidity probably played a big role in that
This has a good egg graph for air cells and some humidity info if you are interested: http://letsraisechickens.weebly.com...anuals-understanding-and-controlling-humidity

Little giant still air
Is it the 9300 or the 10300? If it is and you aren't using your own therms/hygrometer in the bator, then that's going to be your biggest problem. The displays on the newer Little Giants are innacurate on most of them. The temps are often as much as 3 degrees or more off and the hygrometer is practically useless. If the temps are actually low, then you may see a day or two delay in the hatch.

Our attorneys didn't care. If your selected then you have to figure something out......so the one woman who was selected is a single mom who owns her own business. She had to move all her Appts causing her to lose money and figure something out for her 5 year old daughter. They don't care.

Oh BTW!!!! I have a hatched Silkie!!!!!

And 2 more pips!!!
I got called for jury duty for this week and I opted for a 6 month postponment. So I'm safe until October....lol

Yay on the hatchers and my first thought was paint too...lol

Hi I'm new too hatching and I have one already hatched in the Bator but there is one trying to break through the shell but there is just a big break with a white stuff around the break should I help it?

Just a quick update: Our little star gazer seems to be doing better today. It is so weird. Sometimes he acts just fine and you can't tell him from the others but then all of a sudden he plops back on his butt and starts flopping his head back and forth for a couple minutes. It's like he's having a seizure and then when it's done he's back to eating, drinking, pruning, and all the other normal stuff. Hopefully I can find him some of the other products people recommended, thanks for all the help everyone.

So we have 5 in the brooder now and I had pulled the last pipped egg out last night and found the baby dead inside. I also found movement inside one of the eggs with the blood in it and made a little air hole for it last night, even though it had not pipped on its own.... This morning, I put baby #5 in the brooder and found the egg I put a hole in jostling around and peeping like crazy. I started opening the egg up bit by bit and found that the lil guy had squirmed his way into the air sac but could not get his head into position to pip. So I cleared away enough of the shell so he could push his way out and viola! He's now flopping around in the brooder and screaming away like a perfectly healthy duckling!

Yeah! Great job!

I've got sav-o-chick in their drinking water and I have been forcing it to drink that. Murdoch's gave me some tetracycline hydrochloride stuff that they swore would fix the problem. I'm pretty sure that is some type of anti-biotic and I'm not sure it is what I need but I'm giving it some of that too. Is that enough or should I be putting a concentrated batch of sav-o-chick down it's throat with a dropper?
you have a star gazzer and you haven't giving him any Vitamin E yet? the sav o chick is it the electrolytes or probitics? or are you using both?

The sav o chick I'm using is the electrolytes but it has 900 I/U per lb of Vitamin E and also has Vitamin B1 in it though it doesn't say how much. Not sure if that is enough or not. Our local Murdochs is so poorly stocked that I couldn't find anything down there to give to the little guy. And they didn't have anyone down there but a bunch of high school kids so no one knew anything that could help me. I'm going to greeley in about an hour so I will load up on nutrients and medications while I am up there.

I just received Katiebug's Silky eggs from @RubyNala97 All I can say is if I ever have to mail a small child anywhere, I know who I'm calling on to package him or her! Great job on the packaging! And thanks for the eggs and the extras!

I can't wait to see how you do with them!! Have you candled yet? Can you see the air cell?? I am so excited for this hatch!!!!

OMG, and I thought I was the ONLY ONE, I picked up some goose eggs, I have FOUR in my bator, WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE COMPARE TO MY LITTLE CALL DUCK EGGS.lol.. From what I have read my goose eggs should take 30 days.  I was going to create a forum specifically for Geese's to get all those who have hatched them for some advice.  This is my FIRST time hatching a goose.

If all fails, the man I got these from said he'll give me as many as I want.  The Male in his flock is a Sebostopel and all the Girls are Pilgrims  AHHHHHHH

That should be a awsome combination. Can't wait for pictures. The goose hatching thread idea is good.

Ok, so I set a dozen of my green eggs to hatch out for my sister. I have one of my green egg layers that didn't give me an egg yet today so if she does I will stick that in there too...lol So it all begins again.
I really need a chicken farm with multiple coops so I can keep a nn roo too and section them off from the rest....lol Then I'd have my Spitz, my silkies, my nns and my mixes....all penned out.
