Hoped I would have a duckling this morning but woke up to this...starting an assist now. This guy is stuck!!

I hope he survives.....

That was the easiest assist I've ever done. Talk about ready! Not even a trace of veins. The shell just crumbled and he wiggled right out. Never seen a membrane 100% clear before.

When do you reintroduce all of them to the flock.

The chicks I don't, but if I was it would be after they were about grown! The hens as soon as they are removed.

Keep in mind that I am a breeder----no mixed flocks and no young with old. Now that I have slowed down for a little while---I might mix my breeds of hens and let them free-range some----separate again if I start back hatching.

i had a call duck that rolled around for a couple of days after the others hatched.. i candled it to see how it was doing and found an external pip which i didnt see before then a couple hours later the little thing zipped and was out !!
