Banty, what are the Legos for.....I hate Legos but if there's a good reason for them I might allow a few in my fort!! :/

They are great for putting the thermometers on to achieve the correct level of measurement. I like them because they are adjustable, cheap, and easy to clean. Besides, I figure it is time to make legos do some useful work in repayment for all the times humans have stomped on them!

Ugh parenting question to room
AFTER 5warnings to get back in bed,when are we allowed to duct tape them in again?

Ugh. I feel your pain lol. We usually have to spend about 2 hours putting my 2 year old back in bed every night and getting her to go to sleep

This has been going on since April. I have 3 older children and never had this phase go on longer than a week. None of our tactics work with her. Trust me, I've thought about duct tape lol.

Hey guys I got a bottle waterer this time with a chick nipple. How do I show the new hatchings how to drink from it? I've only ever had the basins. Thanks.

Mine pretty well taught themselves and now love the nipple waterer. I think they were intrigued by the shiny nipple and learned when they went to peck it and see what it was.

My guineas have hatched! Only ended up getting five, and not a great color variation - two are the same, and three others are the same, and they might all be the same except for three are possibly pied, not sure, could just be that they are violet in color. I'll have to check in with guinea experts to see what they think. The others are possibly slate. A little disappointing, since I was mostly wanting pied and I prefer the lighter colors like lavender and coral blue, but what can you do? Violet would be pretty though.

Did the new hatchlings figure out that bottle yet Jen?
I haven't tried those yet I decided to 'save $' and hand feed/water a set of twins chicks(assumed they would die after some reading&video searches). To my surprise,we ended up taking turns for over two weeks(every two hours day&night)they finally caught-on themselves. Lived over 4weeks. Exact visual copies of one another! They where poisoned though&left us.
Two or 3of our hens lay a lot of double Yonkers. Can't find a valid explanation for it yet...
(probably the green ooze seeping up thru the sewer drains j/k,,TMNT fan)
Hear ya on those green eggs,my olive eggs are very ruff to candle! I'd start helping by noon if they aren't out, if your positive it's time. Weigh your pros&cons then commit&chip or get in the car&leave it be.

Time to watch the cockerals crow! Wahooo!

They haven't figured out the chick nipple yet. They will drink if I hold them up to it though. I had 3 left of the 9. The green and brown one just hatched this morning but the last brown one is still not moving. I'm not sure if it's made it. I only saw it move one time yesterday.. I still have 5 of the Ameracaunas left. They were due today though cause I did a staggered hatch...

Also for anyone that checks in the morning. I have 2 eggs that I've seen move around. They are both dark. One green and one brown. Also really thick. neither have an external pip. They were both due today. If they haven't pipped by tomorrow should I make a safety hole?

It's my philosophy to not put holes in eggs unless the chick has been internally pipped for 24+. A hole is not going to aid an unpipped chick and has a higher probability of slowing it down. And if you do put a hole in it, you can't call it a pip and count hours off a man made hole. They need to attempt to pip themselves as well.
