Hands on hatching and help

Yes, I fill a little soda cap with water and dip their beaks in afterward to wash the taste away. I forgot to mention that!
That's fine Kathy & good to know. I didn't mention either that I'm using a 1 ml dropper....I think. It might be .5ml (I'll check when I'm home). I save any of the droppers from vet visits that have measurements on them!!
You gotta try to find a way to ignore them. Lol. It makes the time go by quicker. So hard waiting.

The waiting isn't so bad when I know everything's going smoothly lol. All the eggs have hatched and this last one has just internally pipped I think. I though I heard it chirping last night. This morning no chirping but I still see movement. This eggs going to be trouble. :(

Glad to hear that  you are finally there and can enjoy yourself!!! Have fun and take lots of pics!!!

LOL That's ok, she ended up messaging me.  Enjoy yourself!

Have fun!!

So......can anyone give me any help as to sexing these 2?? They are the 2 black ones I have with insane vaults and poofs! I have a few whites ones also but I wanted y'all opinions on these 2 first!

Hey guys so that lone egg that was left stopped chirping. When I tapped it now sound. No pecking nothing. I couldn't see it moving anymore at all. I removed some of the shell to see that it must have died. It's beak wasn't even moving. No breathing. No noise whatsoever. So I start pulling back the membrane trying to see why it died and it starts to bleed. This suprised me cause when they are dead you don't usually see veins. I staunched it and then saw the smallest movement from beneath it. At first I thought it was just my hand bumping it but I finally saw the smallest movement with its beak. Of coarse I freaked out. I put vaseline on it and popped it back in the incubator. I just checked on it again and now it's visibly breathing much better. I think it was malpositioned because I know it had internally pipped last night because I heard it chirping right before bed. I had to tear the membrane where the beak was so that confused me. Anyone know how I should treat this? Honestly after I realized it was alive I didn't think it was going to make it. It's going strong though.

They can chirp before internal pip... just give it time and watch the veins recede...

Hmmm...they are at that age where they both look pullet-ish, but they are going to go through a maturity spurt soon, where it will be very obvious. The boys will get full combs and streamers and the girls will fill in more in the crest. Honestly, I would say it's just a tad to soon. Start looking for the streamers to start filling in on the back of the necks. Silkies take a long time to sex with certainty and they all go through a pullet looking phase right before they really mature. Can you take a couple more pics of the side of the back of the neck and the very front where the combs are?

Wow, that's crazy. I bet it would have died if you didn't go in and stimulate him/her. That would have scared me seeing the blood!!

Ok will do. They veins aren't very strong at all. I'm just going to wait it out though. I don't want to mess with it at all. I should ha e put I candled it last night as well and i could see the beak in the air cell. That's when I could hear it chirping.

Maybe it pulled its beak back in trying to reposition?

That's what I was wondering. I've never seen a chick internally pip amd then not. It's really moving around now and moving it's beak. I'm glad I went in because I think it was going to be a goner. I don't know how but I don't think it was getting enough oxygen from the position it was in.
