I could have told you that ducks are the cutest!    Chicks are great and awesome and all, but there is something so adorable about a baby duckling, I can't think of anything that compares. (turkey poults are quite cute too!)

In other news, the silkie eggs seller bot back to me and said that he sells for his uncle in Alabama. That's nice and all, but maybe include that in the ad or something? Ugh.

I think that's a little shady since most know people try to put as little distance possible between them for shipped eggs. The shorter the distance hopefully the less damage. I doubt he did it intentionally but should be made aware thats an issue to most buyers..

Im ecstatic to report all babies made it out healthy by this late afternoon!

The one I was worried about made it out third even! They are all drying and sleeping in the bator till I move them to the brooder. Im seriously so in love already I cant even tell you. No one ever told me baby ducks are even cuter that chicks!! So amazing that they all made it out alright! Love love love!

And I know exactly what you mean about falling in love. This was my first year hatching ducks and something about that first glimpse of that little duck bill is far more powerful then a chick. Chicks are great but when hatching ducks it's a whole new level of pressure, especially in your case but trust me, I felt it too!

I saw a pic of baby swans last week and omg...they are so cute! I actually went on a Google search for hatching eggs. Thank god I came to my senses but those black bills on the light grey fluff...

And yes, the ad should have definitely said where they were shipping from! Did you receive the eggs yet?

According to the tracking they were delivered after I left for work, so I'll know tonight how they fared. I'd say I'd report back but my internet went out at home and they won't come out until Wednesday to fix it

I have two chick's trying to hatch and the one has been trying for about 24 hour's now, most of shell gone but can't break all the way through the sack, and there is blood, any idea's on what I can do to help or what I should expect from this. I just had 12 other's hatch out with no problems

Can you get a pic? Is it a little blood or a lot? Has it zipped around the egg but the white outter membrane is still intact? If that's what you're saying, I would make sure I can see the beak and that it's not near any blood. I would also have some cornstarch on hand and make sure the bleeding has stopped. If you peel away the outter white membrane you can see the inner membrane. Sometimes you need to gently moisten it with a q-tip to see through it and check to see how many veins are still running through it. If there is blood then the chick is not ready and needs more time, so most importantly make sure it can breathe and it does not get blood in its nose/lungs and that the bleeding has stopped. And make sure not to rip the inner membrane if it still has active veins or that the chick does not break out and create more bleeding before it's ready.

Well, my internet at home is back up so I can report in. The eggs did fairly well. One cracked open (a lavender of course) but the rest made it okay. The air cells look alright but at least one is floating (I didn't check them all). No extras were sent so I'm out of luck on the broken one. I told the 'seller' but not really seller that he needs to put the location of the eggs in his ads and he seemed to take it well but who knows if he'll actually do it.

Well, I broke down and bought more shipped eggs. But they were actual pied guinea eggs in the actual colors I wanted, so I don't feel bad because you guys know I've been trying to get those since the beginning of the season and had the whole debacle with them. So hopefully this time they are actually what I want, but from the description in the ad it would be impossible for a mix up like what happened last time. Plus the price was great. But those are the absolute last shipped eggs that aren't sultans that I plan to buy this year, lol. Probably.
