Hands on hatching and help

Ugh I have almost 20 orpington eggs and only 2 are developing. I don't know what's been up with the postal service lately but they are starting to really make me mad!! Not one of my variety orpingtons are developing!! So bummed out.. :(

That really stinks!! Trust me, I've been there. Or when a whole bunch of shipped eggs that you really want start developing and then all quit by day 7. Shipped can be so disappointing sometimes! :hugs I must be crazy because I'm getting the itch for shipped eggs again. I need some new blood!
Hey guys, I couldn't resist posting a picture of the RubyNala gang. They followed mama into the coop from their chick pen and all made it up on the first try.

1000

Oh my goodness!! So adorable! Love this pic!!

I just locked down my silkie eggs. Two lavenders made it through incubation and one white, although its air cell is really funky so that one may have trouble. Then I have a good number of blacks that made it as well. Now hopefully they hatch are actually silkies - after the debacle with the eggs not coming from where it said they would I'm not 100% confident they will be, lol.

We really need a few more players here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...o-prize-6-ayam-cemani-eggs/1510#post_17404658

If we don't get to 49 in the next fifteen minutes the game will be canceled and no one will win, so even if you're not interested in the eggs it would be awesome if you claim a number so the rest of us can play

We need five/six more people.
If you want to ship silkies off, my daughter would take them. Sadly we don't have anything to trade though - I haven't tried to incubate eggs YET - but, we have a cochin male who has a Brahma, bantoma and RIR along with a cochin female to lay eggs :p

Oh, that's not my game. It's for ayam cemani eggs, and all you do is claim the next available number and if you win you get the eggs for free and just pay shipping :) I'm just hatching silkies now, I'm not selling their eggs.

we paid 12+ per female silkie as a 1 day chick - so if you feel like finding them a home, my daughter would love them. She's getting into 4h with silkies... It's so hard to find them they are always sold out for the 3-4 a chick :/

Edited : we don't' have the right kind of eggs to play in any bidding games yet.

No, I'm hatching mine to add to my breeding flock, I won't be selling any right away. I will likely be selling the extra cockerels down the line, but no chicks right now, unfortunately. If you just want hatchery silkies (I'm assuming that's where you got your sexed female ones) you can get them lots of places, like Ideal Hatchery, Meyer Hatchery, McMurray Hatchery, etc. Most don't sell them sexed though because they're bantams and sexing them is very dangerous for such small chickens, and very inaccurate anyway - hard to see what you're looking at with small chicks.

I agree. My daughters okay with a ROo silkie though since she wants to breed them. They literally have ZERO silkies locally.

That's too bad :( I think RubyNala is still selling eggs and she has very nice silkies, you might want to pm her.

Hahaha I get that itch too but I'm trying not to scratch it lol. We have a local place I can get them sexed and since we have so many roosters right now I'm tempted to go that route lol
