Hands on hatching and help

One of the chocolate eggs I got was pretty dirty, so I figured it was worth experimenting and I washed it off. Not totally submerged, but totally wiped one side with a wet paper towel and got the yuck off. I marked it so I'd know which one it was, and it hatched 3rd. No problem whatsoever!
All gorgeous but I love, love, love the paints! :love

The blacks and gray/blues are my favs...lol. I can't wait to see what hatches from these guys next spring....lol

My nephew brought 18 guinea eggs yesterday. He was planning on bringing 18 more tomorrow from someone else he knows, and I was going to set them tomorrow, but then he messaged me and said go ahead and set them, he wasn't able to get the others. So I cleaned out the incubator today, put new liner in it and started it back up. I just set the eggs. They aren't the cleanest eggs and one is quite dirty. If it was my eggs, I wouldn't have set it. There's one with a free floating air cell too. So, I don't know how well these are going to do, but they are in there. They are little and funny looking. I'm so used to chicken eggs...lol I have a feeling before the first week is up I will be having to raise the humidity like I did the silkies cause these eggs are about the same size they were. Speaking of silkies I need to go and get pics. My boys look so big, and they are so beautiful. I think I have 4 boys, but the other two are paints and those I will need to sell, because I don't have room to pen out the paints seperately so I don't have the paints breeding paints. So probably Shadow, my big black roo and Blooie my crazy grayish boy will be the cover for the hens.
I'm excited about this set! I never did guineas before. I locked down my eggs today. I was on the fence about raising humidity. They didn't look quite ready but I'm going to be gone all day tomorrow and I know my eggs have a tendency to draw down quick, so I went ahead. 11 made lockdown. One looks totally funky. It's had a large spot of with no viewing for a few days. I thought it would be a late quitter but it's still active.
Ok @RubyNala97 I got updates of my clan. First two pics are my toe attacker, Shadow. He's my biggest boy and seemingly the dominant roo so far. This is the first one I knew w/o doubt was a roo. He always looks like a rag a muffin. And there's Blooie.... The one on the left I believe is a roo. Those are 4 I am sure about being males. One girl My blueish gray girl. She is a loner girl My pure blac girl, Mystic The one on the right is my most painted paint. These are two that I'm not sure of, but leaning toward girls... My black butt paint. I'm not sure about. I believe this is just a better pic of one of the ones in the pic 2 up. I'm thinking girl. She's white, but has two wing feathers that are partridge colored, but are hiden under the fluff.
These eggs were from when I still had the partridge girls and I bet one of them is the mom to that one female with the brown around her chest (they were extra pretty too). I love getting to see them grow up and I think you're right on about the sexes!!

Good luck with the hatch!!!
So, does that one officially get called a partridge or just a unstandard colored bird? The different colored/different patterned birds are the ones I really like. I like the odd balls....which is probably why you won't see me up to my neck with SOP lol

Well one more week and my orpingtons should go into lockdown. More have developed so I'm grateful for that. Can't wait to see them. I also sold 2 more roosters last night and made a trade with some jubilee chicks for 2 cayugas hens. So excited!! :)

Good thing I went with my gut and locked down last night. Came home today to an external pip. Not one single egg was drawn down last night and day 21 does not start until Tuesday night at 10pm. My octagon 20 runs hot! Anyway, I don't think she would be considered a full partridge. It would be a mix. I know nothing about breeding partridge but it looks like the dad was black. I've had a couple customers that like to buy silkies in all different colors so that the babies will be a big surprise. You're not alone!! :gig

Always feels good to get rid of extra boys, doesn't it?!
