Hands on hatching and help

Those sites really helped thanks! I do have a forced air incubator. I am going with 30% humidity and will check every week for air cell growth. I don't think any of the three eggs I have left are alive and this chick that hatched is not doing so well. Sad. I left 8 eggs in the nest in the hopes my girls will go broody. I have 11 I'm going to incubate.

Oh, and I got my first two silkie eggs this morning!!!!! It's a good thing I sent the dying incubator back to my sister this past weekend....cause it would be very tempting....lol I don't even know if any of the boys are doing their job.

Lol I can't wait to get some eggs from my silkie hen but unfortunately she is starting to look like she is getting streamers. I seriously have the worst luck. Bought her as a pullet.

Go down to tractor supply or your local feed store and pick up some save a chick electrolytes and vitamins. I've had it bring back a many of chicks that looked like they were knocking at deaths door. I would also keep a few on hand. I offer it to all my just hatched chicks. :)

Long overdue photos of the Apple Dumpling Gang.... The darks: Pocket Lint (Pockets, for short) King Tut Phred (Now, this may well be another shot of King Tut, but then again the shot of King Tut might be just another shot of Phred - they look so cotton pickin' identical that it's hard to tell. The only way WE know is because Phred is a chicken chicken - afraid of everything - and King Tut acts like the world is Tut's!) Ruby The Lights: Smudge Q-Tip Dufus. They are beautiful!

Congrats! Still waiting for mine to kick in, but they are what? - 2 weeks younger than yours? Tell Blooie that Blooie says for him to get his hiney in gear!

Had one cemani hatched and one pipped when I left for work. Unfortunately the one that hatched isn't one I can use for breeding, which is a bummer because these were from another breeder, but hopefully the other one is nice and black and it'll have this one that already hatched for company.

Also, is anyone experienced with lavender silkies? The ones I hatched from those eggs that came from a person different from the seller are making me wonder if they are actually lavender. They could just be really light lavender, but one also has a dark spot of feathers on it like paint silkies do. I'll have to get some pictures.

We had some lavender silkie chicks. They didn't have any spots though they were just solid. I should be able to tell when you post pics.

These guys are older - they didn't have any spots of color when they were chicks. I'm wondering if it's possible for lavenders to get darker spots like that - it's only in one place. It's probably not something you'd want to breed but I'm curious if it's something that does happen with them.

I'm not sure. We had ours till about 8 weeks and then decided to rehome because they were frizzled. Had no idea what that was at the time lol
