AmyLynn- I have small eggs so should I have more humidity then? The humidity is at40% right now. So, if I wanted to bring my temp up do I add a sponge with a little water?
When I did my silkie eggs, which were quite small compared to my standard I started dry like normal, but ended up having to up my humidity and run 40-45%, mostly around 45% until lockdown because the air cells were growing quicker. I used the wet sponges. I'm thinking you mean to ask if you want to bring humidity up, not temp? Using the sponge will bring the humidity up, not temp. Usually, if you are using an incubator without the temp control, adding water can lower temp slightly, one way to offset that is adding warm water. The best way to gauge if the humidity needs to be adjusted is monitoring air cells and I will add a link for you to better understand that: http://letsraisechickens.weebly.com...anuals-understanding-and-controlling-humidity
Adjusting temps on those type of bators can be a pain in the butt. I always just wiggled mine in the direction (up or down/right for up left for down) I needed and monitored it real close after.
