Hands on hatching and help

All of us have been sick again! It's like everyone just got better and we had maybe a week of everyone being healthy before we each started coming down with something again. Even Mavis, our house duck, was sick! Thankfully she's all better and almost finished with her meds. This batch of eggs has been real tricky. These air cells have stayed pretty small. Even with running 20-25% for a week! I don't know if it's because there are a lot of new layers with thick shells? I wanted to lockdown late but of course one had to internally pip early so I went a head and locked that incubator down. Waiting on the second bator but half of those eggs were added a day later. We'll see what happens. Wouldn't be surprised if I get a pip or 2 today. Day 21 starts Monday evening and I ran my temps lower then normal, right around 99.5. I guess I should have joined an xmass HAL...total coincidence that I'm hatching this weekend. :gig

Man, you aren't supposed to be sick at Christmas time! Hope everyone is feeling better! Good luck with the hatch and keep us posted.

I want to wish everyone here a Merry Christmas. We might not always agree with each other, but each one of you has added to this thread, and many more, in very special ways. I'm glad that I've had the chance to get to "know" you through BYC. Hope your holidays are everything you've wanted. Be safe and Merry Christmas!

I will be having the most awesome Christmas ever! Heard a knock on the door Thursday evening and thought it might be the UPS guy, since that was his usual time to get here this time of year. Um, nope, not the UPS guy....it was our oldest granddaughter Little Diane and her husband Dustin. What a total shock! None of us knew they were coming - they wanted to surprise us. Well they sure as heck did!! Amazing!!

I wish for all of you a very Merry Christmas and hope that you feel the joy and peace in your hearts that I am feeling right now!

My surprise Christmas gift!

So happy for you, @Blooie. And hope everyone is enjoying their holiday!

1 baby out and about a dozen more pips. Had to move my almost 4-week olds out of the brooder for these little guys. Will be doing major dusting this afternoon and then hopefully all these new hatchlings will be picked up this week and I swear...no more chicks this winter!!

I'm kinda bummed because the temps in my mini must be low. I woke up to an incubator filled with chicks in the 20 and there are 9 eggs I set at the exact same time as the eggs in the 20 and they are not even internally pipped yet. Day 21 starts this evening. I'm definitely going to have to check the temp in there! I hope they will be ok. :fl

Still early Ruby! Yeah for hatchers, fingers crossed for the ones still to come!

Thanks! They are starting to pip in the mini. All but one have hatched in the 20. I need to do an assist this afternoon. This one egg has what looks exactly like a safety hole in it. I will get a pic today. It's a tiny little circle right through the egg. Looks just like the tip of a pencil. I'm wondering if the chicks could have done it that were in there? You gotta see it! But no further progress, so I'll help him today but I have to go to work for a few hours first.

No need for an assist. When I got home it had actually pipped (near the all natural safety hole but not the same exact spot) and is zipping now! Glad I had to work otherwise I'm pretty sure I would have intervened sooner and obviously it would have been unnecessary.
Up to 3 pips in the mini with 9 more eggs to go!
Look at all these babies!...
