Hands on hatching and help

That's AWESOME! And that's what gets me about people that say a chick that needs help isn't strong enough or shouldn't be allowed to live with help. Pure BS.

X2!

There's alot of instinct involved to know if and when to help.

Ok, so we are headed into Day 3 and I am already comfortable confirming 14 that are showing signs of development, 4 that I'm not comfortable judging yet, they are a little more porous making it harder to tell, (but if I was going to guess I'd say 2/2), and four I don't think are going to develop at all. So fertilization is looking pretty promising.

I supposedly have all of any that hatch in this set sold plus a good jump on a second hatch. If I keep getting interest I may need a cheap hatcher.

But, all these girls are going broody on me! Tuesday I'm going to buy me some shampoo (I've been talking to some 'pros' that show silkies), and bring them in one at a time to get a nice bath and some pampering and see if I can't convince them to not be broody.

this is my Trader Joe chick that hatched on the 8th. She was the only one but she is spoiled lol. Crazy that she was in the store meant to be breakfast and now she is my lil fluff baby.

How cute! I have a Trader Joe's egg that I've been incubating but I'm not sure if it's fertile, the date on the carton indicates they are almost 2 weeks old.

Last dozen only this one chick hatched and i have another batch in and out of 12, three are doing great at day 11. What day are you on? Sometimes the Trader Joe eggs seem to take longer to start developing to where it is noticeable.

Yes, it says fertile. My last two attempts didn't work out so well.

I've read the age of the eggs can effect the hatch rate. The one I have is almost 2 weeks old according to the date on the carton.
