Hands on hatching and help

Oh, I thought so...

What's her temperament like?

I've read different stories on this site about people who have Leghorns. Some say they're very gentle while others can be extremely skittish.

Generally I've found leghorns to be skittish, but there are exceptions. I had one little one (that I won over as a chick by feeding egg yolk daily) that was super friendly and flew up onto my shoulder to ride around while I was in the yard with the birds.

she is only a week old and since she is the only chick, she sees me as mom. She likes sleeping on my chest. She just gets nervous if you pick her up from behind, if she sees me picking her up she is fine

Aww...

Sounds like she really loves you.

I remember once years ago seeing a chick hatch at the Science center in California.

I was the first thing he saw too, poor thing cried when I left.

Friend of mine has chickens but they'll just stop and look at people for two minutes then walk away.

Funny as all get out!

400
see they even like hanging out on a Cat Condool

Wow, that's funny!

I remember once in LA near Hancock park there were 3 chickens walking around in a vacant lot, which is something you don't see everyday. My guess is they were left there or fell off a truck. I'm finding out in some Metropolitan cities people keep chickens in their yards...only drawback is some of the neighborhoods aren't zoned for farm animals.

My spizhaubens are the sweetest things. Them and a couple of my mixes are always looking to get up on my shoulder or head. I feel like the pied piper when I walk out of the house cause most of the flock comes running trying to trip me up. lol

Pets really make life better. I can't get up for coffee without one of my dogs following me.
