Hands on hatching and help

The membrane is stuck to his face!

I wouldn't have it wrapped in the paper towel because that can cause the chick to become chilled. Do instead what Jennifer suggested and use a q-tip to get the membrane off.

Ok, we used the q-tips and hatched both of them. They are getting stronger and have opened their eyes. One other egg pipped this morning. We will give it the night. Thank you everyone for your help!

Thanks y'all!  I still have over a dozen eggs in the incubator (two others have pipped now and are peeping) are they all going to be sticky like this?
are you able to see the membrane? If you can see their beaks I wouldn't worry aslong as they can breath. Maybe just give them overnight see how they are in the morning.

No, I could not see the membrane but the size of the pips got bigger right before I left school, so yes, I did leave them overnight

Please, just a word of caution... If you are going to do a whole zip like that, check for active blood vessels by moistening the membrane, and if there are none, then tear the membrane. Leaving it in the incubator zipped like that, it has nothing to press against to enable it to push out. Once you go that far, you have to continue. It would have tried to stretch and stretch and never been able to tear the membrane on its own, because it has nothing behind it.
