Hands on hatching and help

That yolk on the left. Doesn't look "healthy" to me. Wether it was because it was an early quitter or the reason, I don't know, but it's not a nice healthy yellow.

That was my first hatch but from what I had read(on here BYC) it seemed too dry like. The membranes seemed sorta crusty, flaky like.?

Okay here's one...

I suspect the spots are where bacteria entered the shell:

And maybe that is what caused the death of this one:

That's one nasty yolk! Yuck!  Fascinating though. Especially the spots on the membrane.

Were there visable spots on the shell too?,asking because I'm not sure if you mean bacteria got thru shell and membrane or was it somehow already in the shell as duck formed?

It's casportpony's, but I'm thinking she's thinking the bacteria got in through the shell pores and into the membrane, that would be my guess.

Oh,ok I see.(thru the shell as well)
Sorry I'm still trying to get the technical portion of some of these quotes,,,

Ok, so even though I've got almost an hour left before I officially hit 4 days, I'm exhausted and need to go to bed, so I did my last turn and took my candling pics on my Spitzhaubens for day "4". I actually got some decent pics. Didn't even need to edit.

These are an hour from day four technically. My Silver Spangled Appenzeller Spitzhauben eggs.
