Slow!! I have 2 that I am trying to help. The first was the one that piped the wrong end. That one I am making progress with and am almost ready to get the rest of the shell off of. The second is one that piped and made no progress on for over 24 hrs. I am glad that I peeked because I'm pretty sure it would have been dead if I didn't move the membranes from his bill. The problem is that it still has a bunch of blood in the inner membrane so I can't do much except keep it moist.

Ok guys I have one who pipped sometime last night/this morning...when I went to bed at 11:30 was still just internal - woke up at 6 and it had externally pipped. However---it was pipped towards the bottom... Pic attached. Was this ok? I read and someone told me I should rotate that pip upwards- so I did... I hope to goodness I did not screw up!!!! Tell me it's ok! FIRST TIMER!!! As soon as I shut the lid, a second later my next egg pipped. I only had lid open for like 5 seconds- humidty and all is stable at 70 please see pics

And in that second picture, is that another pip in the egg just to the left of your red circle???

So the second picture is of course when it first pip before I rotated it--- so I did ok by rotating and getting that pip facing upwards? And no that is actually the candle wax on my egg that cracked at 8 days... I sealed it-- and that is also the one who pipped right before I left for work this morning- we call him Cracker lol

Oh, I see! lol And yes, you did fine, especially if humidity recovers quickly. And remember, the gauges take longer to recover sometimes, more so than the actual temp and humidity do. But you don't want prolonged drops in temp or humidity, so doing it quickly is best, in my opinion.

Once they start hatching, eggs will get rolled around quite a bit. They stumble into other eggs, they hug the other eggs, etc. I hate seeing them pointing toward the floor too, but usually it doesn't hurt anything. It makes "us" feel better to have them pointed up, but the chick doesn't really care by that point (think about in momma's nest!).

Having said that, I will still make every attempt to rotate the egg, especially if gets pinned against the floor or along side the wall. Or if its a chick that I feel may have had extra moisture still inside, I definitely want the pip upward. I've used bendy straws and wires through vent holes, to avoid opening during other zips. This last time, I used a skinny artist's paintbrush!

Thank you for responding! I am a nervous wreck hahahaha! This hatching thing is stressful! LOL .... I am working, but when I take lunch I will be heading home to check on them.
