Hands on hatching and help

Until the shell is compromised (ie, externally pipped), they really don't need the extra humidity... the higher humidity is to keep the membrane supple while hatching... they say 3 days before as a broad average...
Unfortunately, I don't see any drawdown and that clear space between the embryo and the air cell *usually* means DIS... but I'd leave it just in case... I've had many surprise me...

DIS is that forgive me (dead in shell?)
& what is draw down?
Yes, it is. Before they pip the air cell draws down. One side will pull down sometimes a good half way down the cell.

For me it's air cells.  If they seem right on track, on average, I'll up the humidity on day 18.  If they seem a little small, I'll wait until they look "right" or until there is a pip.  Last few hatches I've waited an extra day.

Thanks. Just trying to improve hatch rates. All information is much appreciated. And I do know it's personal preference.

I'm assuming DIS (dead in shell? ) :(

Hi Everyone!
I just set 18 Bantam Cochin eggs, along with 11 button quail and 11 duck eggs(barnyard mix). Not all in the same bator...LOL! I am hatching with my classroom and we are just getting started! So excited!!! Hoping I can join here for support and questions

I have been hatching for quite a few years, but just moved so this is my first hatch in my new classroom. Got my bators stable and made sure my classroom temps stay the same with the heater so fingers crossed all goes well
