Hands on hatching and help

Do you mean harder cos she will attack me or harder cos they don't wanna sit on them when moved?

Maybe both... ducks tend to be more aggressive about protecting their eggs, it's hit or miss if they let you near... and they are exceptionally picky about their nesting spots... if possible, I would move her nesting material with her as well... that *might* help...

Test out how she reacts first... try approaching her and see how she does...

Okay, I'm heading out to try it. Hope it works before my lil ancona hatches. I've got one zipping right now and all I can see so far is his speckled lil beak!!! Can't wait to see what his markings and colors are!

That poor duck. She is not happy and her eggs were all so nice and clean and then I made her poop all over the crate so she could tromp poop into the new nest I moved the eggs to. Hope they end up being okay.

Well, looks like she's abandoned them. After an hour of waiting for her to go back and her just sitting in the yard with her head buried in her wing I went ahead and stuck a couple in the incubator and about 8 of them under my brooding turkeys to see if they can hatch them. Candled all of them and I only found two definite fertilized eggs so those are in the bator.

First ancona and the turkey are hatched though! Hope they get some more goin......

So I have one egg that is pipped but it pipped right out of the side on the opposite side of the egg it was supposed to in order to hit the air sac. What do I do? Also, how long should I leave the eggs in the incubator? The ancona eggs are almost halfway through day 30 right now.

How big of a hole should I make? Forgot to ask that in my othe post

Big enough to see into, just keep it over the air cell...

Roll it so the pip is up and make sure it's nares are clear of any goo or blood...

Mine at a month old still fit in my hand! :gig

Well, don't forget these are 1/2 Pekin. So a little larger duck. The larger one has big boy feathers and the younger are in the middle of "the change". There were 2 gray/white, 2 brown/black and the black/white.

Wonder what color I will get next time???
5 of my 6 ducks "look" Pekin and the other is a very light mauve and white.

Do you remember in February -I started a thread "Pekin hatching problem". Had a duckling upside down in shell. It ended up being a crested??
Well here is Pretzel (the problem child), Oreo (blk/wht),and Snickers (gry/wht). They are 10 weeks. Talk about big.
