Hands on hatching and help

I'm was supposed to lockdown yesterday with my shipped call eggs. But the air cells seem on the small side so I'm waiting for the first internal pip to up humidity but I stopped turning a couple days ago. 6 were still alive yesterday. All the eggs look so weird except for two. I would think they are all quitters but I learned my lesson on my last batch, plus they are moving around. I'm hoping to give my single call a friend. He is such a good boy (I don't know the sex but think boy). He really loves me and the kids like we are his family. I took this pic yesterday and just love it!

What a cute pic!!

Did you try oil it's stronger on yolk bird

Don't think she's trying to get stuck yolk off..she's trying to stem leaky yolk from the umbilical. .

If it's not a huge amount, I'd leave it be.. if it's a large amount, wet a paper towel with very warm water, line the bottom of the tallest glass you can fit in your Bator and put the chick in there so it can't move around or get picked at by the other chicks

I have it in a plastic bowl with wet paper towel to protect from others but since its moving around, I will put it in a glass. It has been moved into a brooder already and is under the lamp. I checked the temp and it hovers between 90 and 95 so it should be ok. Yolk leak has slowed down somewhat.

You don't want the baby under a light trapped and unable to regulate its body temp. It will quickly dehydrate them, and it'll also dry out that paper towel quick light too. That's why WildHens recommended a cup in the bator :)

Yep, definitely would put it back in the hatcher..if that's not an option, it'd be better off left loose in the brooder..is your light a red one?

We have a baby! Buff Ameracauna. She was a textbook hatch; zipped right around the line I drew on the egg for her air cell! She is tiny but so strong and alert. I hope someone else hatches tomorrow so she's not alone for long.

So glad I found this thread! I hatched 2 Red Goldens and my leg bars are pipping. The pheasants are the devil lol. I had to take them out. They started pecking into the holes of the pipped eggs.
I've had temp issues and air cell issues due to shipping, but I think it's going to be ok with a little help :)
Btw,how long do you think it will take to read the whole thread?
