Oh deary me, did someone say peacock eggs? (my un attempted unicorn of hatches) sigh someday....when I can devote full attention to notes&there's not diapers to change.
-band aids whoa! If you use a clear patch one I wonder if it would almost be like a little window into the eggs "womb"

If it is yolk, I'd put a damp paper towel in the bottom of a mug and place the chick in it and either put it back in the bator or under a brooder light. The mug will confine it in hopes that it won't rupture the yolk sac and give it time to absorb. If it ruptures, the chick's probability of survival drops significavtly.

Thank you! I'm not sure it is the yolk. It wasn't there right after he hatched. Just started and kept growing. I did remove the other 2 chicks that were dry so they would leave him alone.

Did anybody set for the fourth of July? I didn't set yesterday which is the technical set date but I set 8 NN eggs today and will set a bunch of cemani eggs tomorrow. They tend to hatch two days early so probably will hatch on the 4th. Wouldn't be surprised if the NNs hatch early either.

I also had to steal back the keet that I had given my broody hen. It just wasn't thriving with her - the size difference between it and two I had kept inside was very noticeable so it's probably a good thing that I decided to take it. She still has the AC cross chick I gave her so she's happy.
