Hands on hatching and help

Jennifer, I just wanted to say how how happy I am for you that your hatches so far have gone well!  I've been following your posts and while I'm super confused about what you've got cooking (or even how many incubators you have at this point lol) your enthusiasm comes through in every post. 

Lmao I have so many different types of eggs. We have a mixed flock and I want to have a few of everything until I figure out what breeds I like best. so far my favorite are my polish and Ameracaunas. I just love their personalities. I also have ducks. Rouens and swedish. Love them. Right now in my incubators I have ancona ducks,gold and silver laced polish bantams, lf cochins,welsummers and jubilee orpingtons lol. I have more jubilee and Ameracaunas on the way. Those will be my last for this year though. I have most definitely fallen in love with all this. Hatching is amazing. I feel like I've found my calling lol.

We're at 35+birds now with the Cuckoos (6) some Bantam/Ameraucana crosses (10), a couple of Standard Cornish roosters, 5 Black Copper Marans, 3 BBS Orps, 2 Chocolaate Orps, 3 Easter Eggers (who were supposed to be Orps - one has puffy cheeks, one has feathered legs, and one has a pea comb :-/) and 6 pure Ameracauna pullets (one of which is awfully red in the comb area).

Oh the lavender orpingtons are on my wish list. They are stunning! Those are first in the incubator next year lol. If I buy anymore this year my husband will have a heart attack lol. He tells me how can we vacation. With all this going on... I just keep telling him this is my vacation lmao he is a trooper though. I've lost count of our chickensure lol. We don't plan on keeping all of them though. Adleast I keep telling myself that hahaha.

Well I was bummed my silkies weren't fetile but I just checked my ducklings and so far every egg has developed and I can even see the ducklings now. Love the silver lining..

What day are they on? How are the air cells looking? Are you misting them?

We are on day 11. Someone else I spoke to said that they prefer not to do the misting so I decided this time not to. Since this is my first time I didn't want to mess it up. So far the air cells are looking good although I did see a few saddle shaped ones. My first hatch 9 out of 10 had quite a few of the saddle shaped air cells and hatched well so I'm not sure how that effects things..

What is the humidity and how big are the air cells? Misting depends on air cell size, if the air cells are too small, ducks can have a lot of goo left in the egg and cause issues at hatch... too small of air cells, mist at least once a day...
