Hands on hatching and help

Ok all were shrink wrapped. I made a view hole and an air hole for the beak. I put them back in the incubator. Please say a prayer for that my little ones will pull through. Thanks for all the help. I couldn't do this without you guys. I'm terrified. :(

Did you moisten the membrane at all?  I was going to give coconut oil a try my next go 'round.

X2 ??

If you open more than a safety pinhole, that membrane will dry out...

I use coconut oil, works well... still sticks and sometimes it has to be peeled or flaked off, but doesn't leave the fuzz butt looking 'greased' like Vaseline does, lol...

I moistened it with water and upped the humidity to 80 percent. I've been getting back in there every 30 mins or so to re wet the membrane. I didn't know if anything else was safe to use. The second chick just hatched I helped a bit but it pushed out on its own. It's drying off in the incubator. The other 2 still have to much veining. I'll try again in a few hours..

I had to assist almost all mine on this last hatch. They started pipping before I had them in lockdown. So they all shrink wrapped. They pipped but couldn't zip. When you assist when they can zip they don't close off the veins and they can bleed. You have to go really slow. I managed to save mine but it took them a long time to recover.

Coconut oil, vaseline, any antibiotic ointment w/out painreliever is safe to use... it's easiest to use a qtip to apply and just make sure it doesn't get into their nares... :)

Thanks I wish I would have k own about the Vaseline earlier. The membrane stuck to their eye. I got it off but it started bleeding so I dabbed a bit of cornstarch to stop it and the put Vaseline on the exposed areas. They are both back in the incubator. I'll update again later. :)
