grrr, hen is off nest at day 17, still warm , should I grab the eggs and put them in the incubator?

Day 1 or day 17, she still has to eat, drink, and poop. She knows what she's doing.

How long has she been off for? I'd give her time and see if she's just stretching her legs.

6 hours now we got a couple more hours before really starts cooling off as gets down to the 40-50 range at night, she's up on the perch now

If she's going to roost on the perch, then, ya, I'd probably be heating up the incubator. 6 Hours is a lot.

Can't really gripe, it's a LG9200, my sister had it about 3 years before I "borrowed" it and I have been hatching in it the last 2 years, so it's lived it's life for a cheep styro...lol


My dumbbutt nephew went and bought one of those plastic chinese knock offs last year and I scolded him for not talking to me first, of course it crapped out first use. SO I tell him, DON'T buy the new LG digitals, the Farm Innovators or the plastic knockoffs.I told him go for the Hovabators if he was going to get another one.  My sister tells me he went and bought another one a week or so ago, so I asked him when he came down to get his chicks what he got...a LG from TSC!!!!  I almost choked him. He's like well that's what you said to get.  NO NO NO, that was the one I said NOT to get!!!  I am going to strangle him before he turns 30 I swear! lol

Well id say it lasted a pretty long time lol. Guys never listen no matter if their family or husband's lmao... I seriously wish I had someone I could borrow from vs buying. They are so expensive. Someday I'm going to get a cabinet incubator and I will be in hatching heaven lmao..

Watch it very closely until you are sure it's settled.

Well id say it lasted a pretty long time lol. Guys never listen no matter if their family or husband's lmao... I seriously wish I had someone I could borrow from vs buying. They are so expensive. Someday I'm going to get a cabinet incubator and I will be in hatching heaven lmao..

My theory is if you can hold an even temp you can incubate in anything, but it's the work you have to put into it. FI's have really mixed reviews. I know people that have bought them and they have been accurate and worked well and I have seen people that have had just as much problems with the FI that others have with the LGs. About the same for the chinese knock offs. The one he bought last year the gages were off and they couldn't get the temp up in it. The digital LGs, I've seen very very few people that don't hate them and regret the day they bought them....lol Mine is an LG but it's the 9200. I have awesome hatches normally, but it's a lot more work, monitoring and adjusting.

That is true. I got one of the digital LGs to use as a second incubator so I could stagger hatches... The temp fluctuations were horrible and I couldn't get it to hold humidity either. I took the plunge with the chinese one and got lucky. I don't expect it to last as long but hopefully I will have a better one built by the time it quits. I have no complaints about the FI; again, I got lucky! They are both pretty much set it and forget it.

I am going to murder the post office. First they took 15 days to deliver one of my shipments, so I'm probably going to have to replace those eggs for the buyer and, of course, the PO denied my claim and won't even give me my shipping money back. Then, I sent another package, with special handling even, and the post office delivered them late - they sent them to correct post office, marked them as out for delivery when they weren't, sent them back to a sort facility, and then sent them out to the wrong post office so my buyer had to drive all the way out there to get them, and upon checking the eggs 10 have detached air cells, three are cracked and leaking, and the only one that's not detached or leaking has a huge air cell. So apparently that's what you get after paying for special handling :/

And to top it all off, I somehow apparently sent a wrong egg to a buyer who won an auction for my eggs and it's the only one that hatched and it's clearly not an AC. I don't think it's even an AC cross. I have no idea how I did that. So I'm going to refund them if they want it.

I think I'll be taking a break from shipping eggs for awhile.
