Hands on hatching and help

Thank you, lol

Nope. I don't use any commercial curriculum. I put our curriculum together from scratch. We hae used Brain quiz workbooks as supplements and this year we are going t o use mobymax online if I can figure how to fit it in with my lesson plans. I use a lot of on line resources especially for worksheets. When he starts getting into the complicated math we will be using a commercial curriculum and/or online tutoring, cause advanced math is not my friend....lol

I ditched the grammar book that was provided to us by our homeschool pretty much immediately. It looked and sounded like it was written in the 1950s.
There are so many resources available online. What did we ever do before the internet?
I use k5learning.com for reading comprehension and grammar. I think they do math too.

We have a ton of Canadian geese around here in the town I live in and the surrounding towns. They are considered pests and it's actually ok to kill them. Most of them have already migrated this year. There is a public pond/cemetery near my house that has one pair still there. The female has a broken wing and her mate won't leave her side. It's heartbreaking. So I made some phone calls today to see if any sanctuaries or Rehabers would take them. I called the state office first and they gave me a list of vets that would help. Called the vets and they will only help if a wildlife Rehaber catches the female and brings her to them. Called some wildlife Rehabers and they told me that they are not interested in going on a "wild goose chase" and to just let nature take its course. They said they get to many calls to save them all. Well how do they decide which animal is worth saving and which is not? Are they prejudice against geese? It's was very aggravating but I guess it's true. They are such beautiful creatures and people around here treat them like crap. I actually saw a car swerve toward them in a parking lot on purpose! They've become the "rats" of waterfowl. I just had to get that rant over with. I can't stop thinking about that pair tonight.
I ended up with 10 still going. I thought they were all gonners, but no.  Saturday was day 14, so today is 17 so about 10 more days??  I'm not liking doing guineas. They have me ??? half the time.  If I can keep these 10 going for that long we may still get something.

That's how the duck eggs were! At least you will be happily surprised when they hatch!!

How long since they hatched? Are they scooting on their chests? Got pics?
I just took them out of the incubator since they dried up, and i was gonna put them in the brooder but i noticed their legs all funny, one can walk better then the other but one even lays with his legs out, I'll try to attach a picture

Omg that is so sad!! I wish I lived closer I would take them. I wanted geese so bad this year but my eggs didn't hatch and then it was to late to order them. Try go ogling wildlife rescues in your area. We have a local one nearby that takes in animals like that.

Two more hatched but their legs are splayed out and they cant run right, is this normal?

No not normal. Sounds like a vitamin deficiency in the breeder flock. I would just start vitamins and electrolytes right away. If that is what it is their legs usually get better on their own with just vitamins.

Still has the newly hatched puffy, bendy toes bit going on... might be just fine... give them NutriDrench if you have it, and keep them on non slick surface... do you have any of that gripper shelf liner? That's really good to put down for traction for newborns...
Give it a full day and see how it's doing then... :)

The shelf liner is the best!
