Hands on hatching and help

Good, I'ma gonna need me some popcorn popping after having to deal with an extra week of incubation...lol  Only halfway there, so I got to have these 10 that were still kicking to keep kicking.

It feels so much longer doesn't it? Chicks seem super fast to me in comparison. FWIW they usually don't take 28 days. Usually 26 but I've had them hatch at 25, even with verified temps. My incubator temp controller is actually able to be calibrated.

I ditched the grammar book that was provided to us by our homeschool pretty much immediately.  It looked and sounded like it was written in the 1950s.
There are so many resources available online.  What did we ever do before the internet?
I use k5learning.com for reading comprehension and grammar.  I think they do math too.

I think k5 covers just about everything math writing and language arts doesn't it?

We have a ton of Canadian geese around here in the town I live in and the surrounding towns. They are considered pests and it's actually ok to kill them. Most of them have already migrated this year. There is a public pond/cemetery near my house that has one pair still there. The female has a broken wing and her mate won't leave her side. It's heartbreaking. So I made some phone calls today to see if any sanctuaries or Rehabers would take them. I called the state office first and they gave me a list of vets that would help. Called the vets and they will only help if a wildlife Rehaber catches the female and brings her to them. Called some wildlife Rehabers and they told me that they are not interested in going on a "wild goose chase" and to just let nature take its course. They said they get to many calls to save them all. Well how do they decide which animal is worth saving and which is not? Are they prejudice against geese? It's was very aggravating but I guess it's true. They are such beautiful creatures and people around here treat them like crap. I actually saw a car swerve toward them in a parking lot on purpose! They've become the "rats" of waterfowl. I just had to get that rant over with. I can't stop thinking about that pair tonight.
That's how the duck eggs were! At least you will be happily surprised when they hatch!!

That's sad. Yeah, I'll be surprised if anything hatches...lol

I normally hatch out a couple days early cause my temps seem to settle a tad higher in the bator, so I am expecting likewise results here. I can't wait until they hatch so I can turn this darn incubator off and box it back up!

So my NPIP inspection and testing was scheduled for 10am this morning. I had gotten a baby sitter yesterday and busted my butt cleaning and getting everything ready for today. Had a sitter hired for this morning too, since I would need to help the inspector with each bird (the ducks are now tested in NYS too). The inspector called me last night at 7:30pm and canceled. She said she just got home from the hospital and doesn't know when she will be able to reschedule and in case she forgets to call me to reschedule I can call her in a few weeks to check. I asked if someone would be covering for her and she said no. Sooooo aggravating! I busted my butt for nothing and paid a babysitter for nothing. :barnie

Ohhh that sucks!! So what, they only have one inspector for a region/area? How does that work? (Apparently not well.)

If my toe pecking little boy don't learn a thing or two I won't have any babies by him. Watched his attempt at mating last night, thought I was going to die laughing. He grabbed the head feathers and held her head down and then continued to do his thing...only he wasn't on her but in front of her! lol Then he went to one of the other girls and did the same. Oh my. He's got a lot to learn!

@Pyxis

My Ayam girl named Brucie has decided to go broody!!! I am super excited. I placed 10 Ayam eggs underneath her and I hope to have some babies in 3 weeks!!!!
