Hands on hatching and help

I hate the post office. I'm really wondering why I keep paying for Priority mail. Seriously, it's not guaranteed and the post office won't give you your money back if the mail arrives late. They also won't let it be considered lost until after 15 days, even though you paid to have it delivered within three! I might just start having egg buyers pay for overnight or say that I won't guarantee that the eggs are going to arrive and I won't replace if the post office is late. The last two shipments I've sent have both been late, and one the post office waited to deliver until exactly day 15 - that way it couldn't be considered lost so they wouldn't have to pay out on a claim. I might be paranoid but I really think they did it on purpose.

Anyway I also sent some of my parrot's feathers off to be DNA tested so I can know his gender. Sent them priority mail last Friday. They still aren't delivered. I'm left wondering why I keep paying for this because I could have paid less for regular mail and they would have arrived at the same time, and I won't get my money back for priority because it's "not guaranteed". Seriously, this is three packages in a row that this has happened and it's not even a busy time of the year for the post office.

Sorry, you seem to have the worst luck with the PO. Will the DNA test still be able to be done, after the feathers have sat that long?

I just sent eggs from northern-WV to middle-TN, sent Wednesday (they sat in my local post office until Wednesday 4:00 pm), but they made it to him this morning! Less than 48 hours, not a single one broken, only 3-ish of the 25 have wobbly air cells. I shouldn't jinx us, but I was impressed, and tickled to death.

I really think your post office majorly sucks!

x2!

Yes. the 1583 and the 1588 are circulated. It depends whether you use an automatic turner or not. The turners holds 42 eggs, (and they have a new turner that the eggs lay down and are rolled, more natural.)
If you hand turn you can get more in there.

What's the difference between the 1583 and the 1588? I looked them up but didn't see a noticeable difference. I'm thinking about selling my other 3 incubators amd just keeping the brinsea. Then taking the money to purchase the Hovabator.

You really do have the worst po. I've had a couple bad shipments but nothing like the problems you have been experiencing lately. I'd be pretty upset.

Have you seen the new Brinsea Ovation? Only available in the UK for now, I believe, but they look awesome :)

I haven't. I imagine they are nice though. Brinsea makes pretty good stuff. I just with the brinsea octagon 40 wasn't so expensive....

Actually, I think they might be a bit more reasonable

The 1583 is non digital, no thermostat and the 1588 is digital with temp control.

How's that boy of yours doing??? And the work?? You getting any rest??

I don't know, but here's a pic of it all apart. The rails are like individual, long thin baskets

The one thing I don't like when I look at the Brinseas is that it just looks so cramped when all the little fluffy butts are in there. I'm not a claustrophobic person, but that's how I feel when they are all crowded in there...lol
