Hands on hatching and help

BYC!!  :hugs   How's that boy of yours doing???  And the work??  You getting any rest??

The one thing I don't like when I look at the Brinseas is that it just looks so cramped when all the little fluffy butts are in there. I'm not a claustrophobic person, but that's how I feel when they are all crowded in there...lol

It is very cramped. That's why Im looking for a bigger one. I use a separate hatcher now for that. :)

Yeah, that's always a solution.

I hate the post office. I'm really wondering why I keep paying for Priority mail. Seriously, it's not guaranteed and the post office won't give you your money back if the mail arrives late. They also won't let it be considered lost until after 15 days, even though you paid to have it delivered within three! I might just start having egg buyers pay for overnight or say that I won't guarantee that the eggs are going to arrive and I won't replace if the post office is late. The last two shipments I've sent have both been late, and one the post office waited to deliver until exactly day 15 - that way it couldn't be considered lost so they wouldn't have to pay out on a claim. I might be paranoid but I really think they did it on purpose. Anyway I also sent some of my parrot's feathers off to be DNA tested so I can know his gender. Sent them priority mail last Friday. They still aren't delivered. I'm left wondering why I keep paying for this because I could have paid less for regular mail and they would have arrived at the same time, and I won't get my money back for priority because it's "not guaranteed". Seriously, this is three packages in a row that this has happened and it's not even a busy time of the year for the post office.
You should definitely state that whatever happens once the eggs are turned over to the postal system is not your fault. You can't control what happens after they leave your hands.
What's the difference between the 1583 and the 1588? I looked them up but didn't see a noticeable difference. I'm thinking about selling my other 3 incubators amd just keeping the brinsea. Then taking the money to purchase the Hovabator. You really do have the worst po. I've had a couple bad shipments but nothing like the problems you have been experiencing lately. I'd be pretty upset. X3
You should do that. Amy talked me into the hovabator. I went with the 1583 and it's a really good incubator.
http://www.brinsea.co.uk/Ovation/ Actually, I think they might be a bit more reasonable

I like that! I don't need another incubator but I definitely like it! :p
look like high dollar plastic to me :idunno wonder if it works like the one Walnut had ?
K!!!! :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs I miss you!
I don't know, but here's a pic of it all apart. The rails are like individual, long thin baskets

I never use the rails anymore, I just lay the eggs down and hand turn. My cradle is packed away. But I guess you could lay the eggs down like it shows the goose eggs, huh?

Boy is good. Going to the adult day center and he likes it there runs to the Van that picks him up in the morning .Night rest no don't dare sit for more than ten minutes or I'll fall asleep . No paying work to speak of plenty to do here though . I'm up in the morning at three to head up to Kentucky for hay baler parts . Hope I can finish cutting hay Sunday have to be sure the baler is up and running when its ready . Farming is like marriage you have to constantly work the equipment to keep it going .

I'm good and cooking in them now all three are working very well . course new thermostats in all three at ninety bucks a pop. had to gasket one completely sand blast and paint the rails and trays . repaint the inside .and replace all the corner angles . As long as eggs don't go bad not much cleaning with the two with turners. the hatcher is another story have to take the back off to really get it clean. Hatch rates could better but I'm happy with them . Slow but sure making back the money I have in them . As for not being on as much I understand three boys wonder your not nuts like me .

The pic I've put up for you all to see is from my first ever hatch, thank you all for your help and comments

Can someone tell me how I can tell hens from cocks other than shape of there feet
Thanks

Congrats on your hatch!

Depends on the breed. If they are auto-sexing or sex-linked, then color may tell you. In some breeds, the feathers may be faster growing in one sex than the other, so that's usually done around a week old. Some have feather patterns that are unique to one or the other. But alot of breeds, you just have to wait for big red combs and wattles, or an egg! :)

That's great that he likes the center. Get yourself some rest. So glad you made it over to the thread.
