She had 6 eggs and 4 hatched, the other 2 quit within the last day or two. I had to cull one that had a leg problem, but the 3 are great.

They are adorable!

I still have 10 of these tricky guineas going. Day 19. I'm going to start paying close attention to the air cells starting Monday so I will know if I need to go into lockdown a little early. The temps in this bator has been so whacked, I just hope we get at least a few out of them.

Hi, I'm lisa and this is our one egg! Were in process of hatching, but it has looked like this for about 24 hours. No progress, and I see slightly brown around edges of it. Chicks breathing, and keeps trying between resting. Temps about 94-100 and 75-80% humidity.it seems to be less active, on its breathing too seems slower. What do I do? Can you see it good enough?

The other egg died like two days before this one pipped externally, and have no clue why. Do you?

Ohhh that sucks!!  So what, they only have one inspector for a region/area?  How does that work? (Apparently not well.)

Yes, that's how it works. But I was assuming if an inspector had to be out for more then a couple days that the state would have someone cover her territory but I guess not! I don't want to make to much of a stink about it and get on her bad side but come on. Lol.

If my toe pecking little boy don't learn a thing or two I won't have any babies by him.  Watched his attempt at mating last night, thought I was going to die laughing.  He grabbed the head feathers and held her head down and then continued to do his thing...only he wasn't on her but in front of her!  lol Then he went to one of the other girls and did the same. Oh my. He's got a lot to learn! 

I have seen this!!! For some boys it comes naturally and for others....

Any progress in the last 5 hours? You can moisten a q-tip and check the internal membrane for veining (just be carful not to get any water near the beak/nostrils). If there is still veins in the membrane then the chick is not ready yet. If you expose any of the internal membrane you can put a lubricant on it (plain bacitracin, coconut oil, Vaseline) that will keep the membrane from drying out.

If I can swing it I plan to get the Hovabator 1583 before spring. If not then I will grab the (gulp) LG from TSC and make it work, but I am really trying for the Hovabator...lol

How many eggs does the Hovabator hold? Can you get it with a fan already?

Yes. the 1583 and the 1588 are circulated. It depends whether you use an automatic turner or not. The turners holds 42 eggs, (and they have a new turner that the eggs lay down and are rolled, more natural.)
If you hand turn you can get more in there.

I hate the post office. I'm really wondering why I keep paying for Priority mail. Seriously, it's not guaranteed and the post office won't give you your money back if the mail arrives late. They also won't let it be considered lost until after 15 days, even though you paid to have it delivered within three! I might just start having egg buyers pay for overnight or say that I won't guarantee that the eggs are going to arrive and I won't replace if the post office is late. The last two shipments I've sent have both been late, and one the post office waited to deliver until exactly day 15 - that way it couldn't be considered lost so they wouldn't have to pay out on a claim. I might be paranoid but I really think they did it on purpose.

Anyway I also sent some of my parrot's feathers off to be DNA tested so I can know his gender. Sent them priority mail last Friday. They still aren't delivered. I'm left wondering why I keep paying for this because I could have paid less for regular mail and they would have arrived at the same time, and I won't get my money back for priority because it's "not guaranteed". Seriously, this is three packages in a row that this has happened and it's not even a busy time of the year for the post office.
