I should also have mentioned that the eggs I got from @RubyNala97 came all the way to Northern Wyoming from her place in New York. We have no big post offices here - we don't even have house to house mail delivery. The entire town goes to the Post Office to pick up mail, and our nearest hub is in Casper, a four and a half hour drive. So THAT speaks volumes about the eggs I got from her and the care she took with shipping.

It sure does. I told her mine were boxed the best I've ever received and they looked great. If they don't hatch it's not because she didn't take care!

Hey has anyone here ever dealt with an egg bound hen? I know not hatching related but I'm concerned about my hen.. no responses in the emergency section..

Can you feel the egg? Have you tried epsom salt bath? The most recommended is the salt bath and then in a cage in a darkened area. If the egg is where it can be felt you can get your finger in there, (I know I cringed when I had to do it.) and manipulate the egg to turn and guide it out. My hen that was egg bound suffered a very bad prolapse vent because of the egg. It was bad. I didn't expect her to recover, but she did. I was amazed.

I wish I could find what I wanted closer but usually if it's something I really want there will be no breeders close by lol

That's the truth, I think I just had beginners luck.

I really don't know. But did you see this article that Kathy posted a while back (I'm pretty sure it was Kathy, if not, I apologize!)
It has some great pictures and description of how the egg travels through the system, etc. I didn't know an egg turns horizontally just before being laid! But maybe it will help you determine if she was eggbound, or if some other problem. Did she lay ok before you brought her to your house?

I didn't see the article. I'll read it now. I'm pretty sure she was egg bound though. Now that she has egg running out. She is acting like she feels a little better and when she pushes egg comes out. No shell though so I'm sure that's trouble. I feel like she has been low in calcium from all the damage to her feathers. I read that it takes alot to fix the feathers. That's why they stop laying when molting. I suspected she was low but figured she would make up for it with the oyster shell. So far her feathers look awful and now the egg issue.
