Hands on hatching and help

@AmyLynn2374 , you should answer this...
Still air incubators should be 101-102 degrees at the tops of the eggs. Today would be day 30 and that is most likely why they are a little delayed in starting to hatch. 65-70% for the incubation period is high, even for ducks. I believe most of our duck hatchers on here run humidity the same for ducks as they do chickens. Lower and monitor the air cells. I believe 45% and under is what they mostly use. Hopefully a couple will jump in here at some time to give you more opinions. As for the pipper, there is nothing this early on that you should be doing.

Hello. If I'm on day 30 for my ducks should I be doing something? I have 4 in the incubator, 1 pipped this morning, its a little crack, cant see the duckling but its chirping. I have another egg thats rocking back and forth. Not sure about the other 2. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I replied to your PM a couple of hours ago. I'll paste my reply here:

You are positive today is day 30? I don't mean that rudely, but it happens alot! Lol! Day 1 isn't until after the first 24 hours, so there's actually kind of a day 0.

Anyway, 28 is just a guideline anyway. Lower temps can cause delays. If you have a pip and hear chirping, then you did something right!

They can take anywhere from 24-48 hours to zip after they pip. So just try to be patient. I know you want to help, but this is the important stage. The duckling is finishing absorbing the yolk right now, and you don't want to rush that. You definitely don't want it out of the shell until it is done, trust me.

Peck on the incubator from time to time and listen for more peeping. Watch the pip hole for any brown to form. The membrane should stay paper white, to wet looking gray. Definitely not brown.

Also, the baby will likely crack the shell again very close to the first one, then rest for a few more hours. Very normal!

They truly test our patience, but it's soooo worth the wait!

From what you have said, you had your temps set at what they should be in a forced air incubator, As AmyLynn said, you have delayed your hatch by doing this. That's why they are two days late. The crack you are seeing is an external pip, and WVduckchick posted good info about what to do from here.

I forget who's done ducks and who doesn't...lol Last time I tagged I missed WV...lol you'd think with "duck" in the screen name it wouldn't slip my mind...lol

Lol!

I actually have some Calls from Ravyn in right now, my first time with them, so :fl all goes well.
