Hands on hatching and help

I'm so sorry for your lose. But we have all been thru the learning period. This is a very good thread and the people here will help you thru incubation from day one if you decide to try again

Linda
Thankyou I appreciate it. I have another Aylesbury duck egg in lockdown now and quail that are on day 5 so if I need help I will definitely use this thread.

Hi there! Hoping I can get some input on humidity and aircells! @AmyLynn2374 I was talking with you on another thread about hatching at high altitude...6500 ft. Anyway...last year was my first attempt up here and my aircells grew big FAST...so I have been trying higher humidity...50-55%...last year 30%. Anyway, I wanted to post my aircells. Today begins day 5 and want to make sure I am on the right track...need them to grow more?

Thank you !!!! These are Bantam Cochin eggs

Whew! Ok! I will keep the humidity up then. By the way...I double posted on our April hatch-along thread:oops:   Just want this to work...last year did not go well:(

Multiple opinions are great. I hope someone else chimes in, either to agree or disagree with me, it's all about sharing! :D

Your egg is around the same size as my polish chicken eggs and I agree with WVduckchick they are to big as I'm also on day 5 and mine aren't like that at all!

Cali, I think they look plenty big for day 5, if not even on the large side.
Not bad. I would raise it just a tad more, cause they are slightly big for day 5, but I had collected eggs of my silkies that were like that because I collected for 2 weeks and didn't provide the best storage conditions, and just slowed it down raising the humidity a bit. But I don't think they are dangerously big.

Don't stress too bad, they aren't that far off. That size at day 7 wouldn't make me flinch, and it's just a couple days off. I'd say 5% more, as long as they don't double in size over a matter of just a few days, you should be good.
