Hands on hatching and help

Mine look strange too. They aren't due to go into lockdown until Monday but the air cells look like they are drawing down already. I'm at 40 to 50 percent humidity so i don't think thats it. What do yours look like?
Same with mine one egg looks different though like it's more developed and I'm sure I see something in the aircell not 100%. Mine go into lockdown Saturday

I'm back!!!!! I wanted to share with eveyone that I am now a Poult MaMa!! Hahahahaha!!!! I won a local raffle and won 3 royal palm poults that are 5 days old. I also won CJ's AC eggs on the Facebook raffle page! God blessed me yesterday. I am also working with another breeder in NH on a shipping experiment. She sent me CLB, Delawares, and Barnevelders!!! I set those late last night! Life has been good lately! How is everyone else doing?
Hey! Royal palms are pretty.
Agree with Wuvduck that calls are much harder. Even regular ducks can have a tougher time getting out and require assistance. I had 3 that pipped on the sides rather than the air sacs and I had to assist all 3 and managed to save 2 of them. I think I had to assist 2 or 3 other ducks too. They can just be stubborn lil brats at hatching time. I had one that pipped externally last year and took 56 hours before I literally had to pull him out of his shell cos he just wouldn't come out. It survived and is still running around the yard. Here's my ancona ducklings playing in the yard!
That's a lot of ducks! Congrats!
Maybe our temps have been to high unknowingly? Mine were shipped so struggled a bit from day one anyways. We had cool weather for awhile but now in the 90s practically overnight.
We have snow in our forecast! Snow!!! I still have 19 silkie eggs going in there! Lockdown Saturday.

Maybe your right! Just have to wait and see. One thing about hatching you need a lot of patience which I don't have

I may put my calls in lockdown a day early as I kind of guessed when I put them in. Usually I write it down but I missed these out

will it hurt if it is a day early? One has really filled the egg out and I can't up humidity if they pip as I have different eggs in there. Oh I have a separate hatcher for lockdown eggs

If you have a separate hatcher, move the ones that look ready and wait a bit on the others. I did that with my last set of chicks. All were set at the same time but I think I had the incubator so full, some developed faster. I moved them in 2 groups, about 12 hours apart.

Thankyou I've just done it whilst checking them before putting them in one is poking the membrane so hopefully I shall have some ducklings soon

I'm good on the snow right now lol. Yesterday was 95 and we saw lightening. Fire season is upon us.. Aww can't wait to see your hatchlings. You have the prettiest silkies.. :) little fluffballs of love! They make you want to snuggle them lol.

Yes I'm awful with patience as well lol. I'm hand turning and candle everytime I'm in there. Whoops lmao. I do it very quickly though lmao.

It wont hurt. I often lockdown a day or two early if they look like they may hatch early. :)

I'm the same I love seeing every stage of development it's so interesting! Especially ducks just because I love them

one egg is completely black with a tiny bit of veins I can see so that one is definitely ready the others still have a tiny clear gap on the pointed end but hopefully I'll finally hatch one. I might go and just stare at the eggs for abit see if I can see any movement lol

Lol I don't blame you. Recently I've started seeing the bill and webbed feet kicking in the shell when I candle. Its so precious. They feel like my babies already lol. I've hatched ducklings before with success but this is my first time with bantam ducks. They seem to be harder. I had 3 east indie eggs and 3 silkie duck eggs and all quit after a week or so except 1. I have 3 call eggs left thank goodness and 5 Welsh harliquins. They are thriving the best. I always do better with standards. Honestly I'm suprised any made it this far. The shipping was so bad the eggs weren't in good shape. These will be pets not breeders so I feel even more attached then I normally do. We used to have a huge flock of ducks then cut down. I don't want a huge flock again but a good mix will be nice. :)
