Hands on hatching and help

If you can shine a light down his belly into the bottom of the egg, you should be able to see whether there is any yolk or not.
I understand your exhaustion. If you want to put him in some type of tall plastic container that can't tip over, and put it in the cave, he should be fine. Line the bottom with a soft rag (t-shirt, etc), just in case he makes his way out of the shell. Just don't want it dragging around.
How do i know if it is yolk or goo that I saw when I candled? It's not orange, would it be orange? His belly button area looks more bulgy than my other duck?

Some hatch with a little fuller looking bellies than others. I think if you pull him out of the shell, it will be apparent if its goo or if it is a little unabsorbed yolk. If he is struggling to get out, and you said you saw some clear area when candling, it is more than likely just goo.

He is peeping and active and nipping my hand as I hold him.

I see it does have some yolk left in the bottom it is yellowish. I put him in a cup lined with a facewasher in the cave. God knows if he will absorb it he seems pretty OK other than that. I don't know what else to do I probably killed him trying to help :(

After that length of time, it sounds like he wouldn't have progressed on his own, so don't feel bad for giving him a chance.

How's he doing now??

OK update!

He had absorbed all the yolk just a yucky blob of membrane left. He was kicking so violently and active that I was worried he would pull on his belly button. So I performed surgery. Dental floss tourniquet tied off tight and snipped with sterile scissors. I gave him electrolytes and applied bactroban ointment and he is back in to fluff up and warm up. I think he might just have a chance! I have been awake with him a full 24 hours now.
