hands swelling up...need help

I'm not sure if the surgery for CT is covered by my insurance or not. The doc never suggested surgery, but then again, I never really pushed the issue. Most of my problems come and go and are short lived each time, so I tend to muddle through and forget about them til the next flare up. The closest Rheumatologist that takes my insurance is over an hour away, just not a doable thing, so I can't do much about the arthritis.

My salt intake is too high also, which I doesn't help any.

Soon as mine starts bugging me on a consistent basis, I will definitely push for the shots or surgery. Although I have heard people say they got the surgery and it didn't help them any, so I don't know whats best.

My hands / fingers tingled from elbow down and it wasa pinched nerve in my elbow . NOW 2 of the nerves are permanently damaged ....

I believe the pinched nerve is in my neck- as only my thumb, first and second fingers swell and go numb, very seldom my whole hand swells. The more I do that day- sometimes has effect but not always, how I use it, and how uptight I get, sometimes just buttoning my shirt in the morning (hurry, hurry cuz I'm late) next thing I know my hands are numb.

thumb , 1st. and 2nd. fingers are carpel tunnel syndrome

When I had my pinched nerve in my elbow they told me Ulnar nerve was involving the ring and little finger . They did surgery TWICE on my ulnar nerve .

Thumb , 1st. and 2nd. fingers are the carpel tunnel .

I have permanent nerve damage in my elbow . I am numb from tips of ALL MY FINGERS NOW to under arm pit on right arm and hand .

use to be just the ring finger and little finger , until damage set in. Hand swells , fingers and arm are numb and fall /winter hand and arm are COLD LIKE ICE .

Neurothopy .....

I am a nurse for the local MD around here. Get to the DR asap.............and BTW asa-sorry- asprin and ibuprophen can cause swelling. But, you need to see a doc.

ibuprofen cause swelling ? NEVER heard of that . I been taking 800 mg. 2 every 4 - 6 hrs as needed for pain since 2001 and sure never caused me to swell .... maybe it is possible if that person would have a circulation problem .

Whether you have carpal tunnel, arthritis or gout, eliminating refined carbohydrates and sugars from your diet can help relive the symptoms. Also consider taking an omega 3 fatty acid (fish oil) and a vitamin D supplement.

When I had a herniated disc it started out with tingling in the thumb 1st and 2nd finger and then had no feeling in those fingers. It took a month to get all the feeling back after the surgery.

SEE A PHYSICIAN.

There are lots of possibilities, some SERIOUS.

SEE A PHYSICIAN.

Go back to the Doctor ASAP. Bring up the possibility of either Rheumatoid arthritis or psoariac arthritis (both are autoimmune disorders, psoariac arthrities impacts around 10% of those suffering from psoariasis). Both of these are serious and degenerative. My DH was your age when his first flare up happened in his knees, characterized by swelling. I wouldn't presume to diagnose anyone, but if there is a chance that it is either one of these disorders than time matters as permanent damage is a distinct possibility if not treated. GO TO A DOCTOR. Have them run an ANA to test for Rheumatoid and ask to see a Rheumatologist.

Again, this can be many things, ranging from minor to major, but I wouldn't accept one initial diagnosis for something with such major implications.
