My wife has a knife set, and in the set is a long sharpening rod with a wodden handle. It is supposed to be used to sharpen the knives. I have never used it for that but found it useful for ramming it through the cabbage and making a nice big hope through which I feed a string with a piece of wood tied to the end and a lope on the other end to hang on a hook in the run. My girls (and Roo) love it.
