I just saw my two males have sex with two of my hens, does that mean it is time for laying, or is just breeding season.

My girls didnt start to lay for a few weeks after a first realise there was some activity in the pool that wasnt "swimming" But you should start to expect some eggs fairly soon. How old are your ducks??

I was heading into cooler weather when mine started laying at around 21- 23 weeks old. But being in a warmer season with more daylight hours could bring yours into lay earlier. You could start to find some first eggs as early as 2 -4 more weeks.

2-4 week? C'mon i wanna see a freakin egg and then like ten babies following their mommas.

Should I separate the males and females now

Someone told me that you have to separate the males and females because the males become to aggressive with females. I have 3 females and two males. I laid out some hay in their area so they can begin to construct a nest.

Is there a website or a link or a discussion topic where I can read information about breeding?

You should be fine. Drake aggression only really occurs when fighting over females or if there are not enough females and the females are over bred. Just start looking under bushes or in high grass, or if you have a dog house start looking for a nest. she will lay an egg a day till she has about 12 - 15 eggs. Although - my cayuga hen gave up on her nest after about two weeks. She hasnt started another nest yet. Once she has a comfortable number of eggs you just have a month to wait before she has babies. Just make sure to watch the males so they dont try to breed her while she is on the nest.

Thank you very much all of you for your advice. I really love my ducks and am excited to see them expand their family.
