Happy Chickens taking a dust bath and "purring"

Our chickens have started using our half-empty garden to take their dirt baths. The other day, four or the six chicks were bathing and our Cuckoo Maran "Cuckoo" started purring! It was so entertaining - we watched for over an hour.

Great pic! Thanks for posting. First time I saw mine doing that...laying on their sides and flopping in the dirt...I thought they were having some sort of group seizure!

It surely is a strange thing to see the first time. We had read about it so we were not too shocked. I tried to provide dirt in their run but they wouldn't do it until they found their own spa in the garden.
