I have a black soldier fly colony started in my composter. Free grubs! Can't do better than that. They're fresh, and I know what they've been eating, because it's what I've put in my composter.

I just bought a 10 lb. bag of BOSS (black oil sunflower seeds) at Walmart for $13. That sure beats the feedstore's price of $5 for approximately 2 cups of seeds!

We do give ours sunflower seeds usually when they come out in the morning-but the feed store here is very reasonable Family owned) if we go by the baitstore-you can pick up crickets-worms really cheap for the amount you get-mostly they get yogurt(plain generic at walmart)mixed alot with whats in the fridge fruit-veggies and I buy generic cherrios for them and in the winter generic oatmeal and mix it with whatevers leftover (cooked of couse) They have alot of fun with watermelon and cantelope-it flies everywhere!!!! There always happy when the see me coming over with there special bowls!!!

(I heard though dont give alot of corn in the summer it raises there body heat)
