We don't have a tree yet, but we've got the front planters all set up nice and christmasy, and there are some lights out. at the moment I'm just trying to make it past thanksgiving. Parents want to be away skiing on real christmas and celebrate later- i said over my dead body. we can't even ski and there has to be at least one thing this year that can be normal, godammit

Yes! Sounds like nice outside Christmas decorations, I will be hoping for your survival through thanksgiving! (We always decorate the day after thanksgiving... so can't wait for SOMETHING to actually get festive!)

WOW! 20! That is a lot! You guys must have a big family! We also stick to a strict policy of the day after thanksgiving is CRAZY Christmas, and before that it's nothing. I don't know if that is good or bad! I used a lot of exclamation points!

I love Christmas! And yes, big family! 9 members, and we will have four more relatives up for Christmas day!

This is a thread to get you all excited for the coming and happy holidays! 2020 has been kinda a rough year if I do say so myself, so in this thread, (and I am sure there are so many others like it.) We can all just work on encouraging each other, and most of all: Tell Each Other Happy Holidays! This can be for any holiday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, (Hopefully a better 'new year') I'm just thinking of the ones to come. Hopefully, it can be something like those awesome family gatherings you used to have, (or are still having) but just online. Happy Holidays to everyone!

Well, as I said earlier, we have a strict policy, nothing Christmas till AFTER Thanksgiving, but I have a very good friend who goes crazy Christmas the day after Halloween. To me, that just doesn't seem RIGHT, but I guess there isn't a law!

Christmas has been my favorite for a while, now. There's so much cooking to be done, and it's a lot of fun. I hope to make some kolachi again this year, in addition to the Buche de Noel and three kinds of cookies.
The tree and wreaths get put up in mid-December, and there are a lot of lights and ornaments for the tree -- it's a good thing that we always get one that's at least 7.5-feet, and nice and fat besides.
Then there's snow on the ground, hopefully, and lovely mellow music.
The Nativity gets set up, too -- both of them (we technically have three, but we stick to the two big ones).
There's also winter break for the college people, so they have more time to goof off, too.
There are a lot of things to be thankful for, and I'm happy to do so.
