I have silently sought advice multiple times from this site and thought it's about time I joined. I greatly appreciate the wealth of knowledge and experiences.
We started ourselves up a little flock of 8 Wyandottes. They're almost 11 weeks old now and I have 6 females and 2 males. 3 are white laced (all female) and the other 5 are gold laced.
I never had chickens before but I grew up with parrots and I love birds. I wasn't prepared for how much I was going to love these birds!
I had a run in with a rooster while playing soccer as a kid and had a hard time finding trust in a chicken after that...
I had no idea chickens were so charismatic and interesting. I definitely underestimated their intelligence but not by a terrible amount at least.
I just love my birds. I can't believe how many years I spent thinking they were mindless aggressive jerks. Now I dread the day something bad could happen to them. ( Thanks for all the predator proofing threads! )
