Today i woke up and fed the birds, and dragged my hung over butt back to bed. When I woke up again around 10am I went out to clean the pen and change the water, and a quick head count revealed a missing chicken. A thurough search of the yard, turned up nothing, but then my mother caught sight of the bird right on the other side of a fence on a neighboring piece of land. Curious as to what the heck was going on, closer inspection revealed, MY FIRST EGGS!!!!
The poor hen was in the middle of laying when we stumbled upon her and as she got up to run the egg popped out her bum. The nest had 6 eggs. We were all kinda confused about this because the timeline was out of wack. theres no way that hens been laying for 6 days without us noticing. A little while later, around noon, the mystery was solved. Two sisters, that are excluded from the main flock have been sharing the same nest. A few minutes later we had another egg, and we left one in the nest with a bit of highlighter on it.
