Howdy!
Although I’m new to the chicken world, I’m HOOKED!
It all started 7 months ago when the neighbors offered to let me “borrow” their chickens to clean up my garden beds. After several conversations, I finally gave in to “borrowing” just 3 chickens. You know, “just see what it would be like”, with full intention of returning the cluckers!!! I was soooo nervous to say the least!
The neighbors helped me get set up for my visitors, and walked me through the daily routines, etc. I must say, going to bed that first night, I was certain that I wasn’t cut out for this! I was SO nervous & worried that I forgot to do something; or, maybe the cluckers weren’t happy.
What if they didn’t like me?
Ugh!
After 3 hours of overthinking about my new predicament; nothing new for me living with ADHD & anxiety. However, I REALLY didn’t need, nor want another “stressor” in my life! So I decided, first thing in the morning, I was going to throw in the towel on my short lived “borrowing period” & graciously return the 3 cluckers to their owners. Resigned to my decision, I awoke with energized determination; strutting my stuff to the garden beds to open up the make-shift coop so I could gather up the 3 cluckers & return them to their owners. As I opened up the door & peeked my head in, there “they” were
, in all “their” glory!
Not one, not two, but THREE of the MOST BEAUTIFUL

‘s I have EVER laid my eyes on!!!
Right that second, “something” happened!
It was like I was experiencing an out-of-body experience or “something”!!!
When I finally caught my breath, I sat back with an overpowering realization that somehow, at some point, I had fallen in love!!!!!!!!
At that moment, I fully surrendered to that “something”, and accepted that I was in love with these girls & there was no way I would be able to give them back!

Fortunately, my neighbors completely understood, and let me adopt the 3 girls that STOLE
my heart!

Now, I am the proud momma of baby chicks as well!

I know that was a long read, but am excited to tell my story of how I became a clucker momma!

With that said, I’m happy to have stumbled across this site to learn all I can to help take care of, and make my girls comfy!
Also happy to report that I often find myself spending hours on end with them, for they calm my ADHD & anxiety! What a blessing & bonus!!!
